Wettbewerb – Neubau Volksschule Spillern
„HOF macht SCHULE“
Der zweigeschoßige Neubau erstreckt sich über die gesamte Südseite des Grundstücks, spannt dadurch einen Freibereich zwischen Pfarre und Schulgebäude auf und schirmt so gleichzeitig den Schulhof vom Lärm der nahegelegenen Autobahn und Bahnstrecke ab.
Über dem auf einem 30cm hohen Sockel liegenden „offen organisierten“ Erdgeschoß liegt ein um vielfältige Höfe und Freibereiche errichtetes „Schuldorf“. Der ausgedehnte Baukörper nimmt so die Körnung und Maßstäblichkeit der Umgebung auf.
Die Gebäudehöhe von 8m wird von den Pultdächern der Klassen überragt. Die dadurch erzeugten Oberlichten, ermöglichen eine optimale Belichtung und schnelle Querdurchlüftung jeder Stammklasse und sorgen somit für ein optimales Lernklima.

Competition – Spillern new primary school
„COURTYARD makes SCHOOL“
The competition proposal puts forth the construction of a new two-storey edifice that would span the entire south side of the location in question. This results in the creation of an open space between the parish and the school building, which serves to shield the schoolyard from the noise of the nearby motorway and railway line.
The school complex is built on an openly organised ground floor, resting on a plinth, originating a variety of courtyards and open spaces. The new structure echoes and respects the surrounding built environment.
The building, with a height of 8 metres, is overlooked by the shed roofs of the classrooms. As a result, each class enjoys optimal natural lighting and rapid cross-ventilation, this ensuring an optimal learning environment.
